DoIT Apple Support Access Information

This server can be accessed using several different methods:


Via the web
This is the access method you are using now. This server can be reached at:

http://apple.doit.wisc.edu/


Via AppleShare IP using Mac OS X
You can access the DoIT Apple Support server via AppleShare IP (AFP) using Mac OS X from any Macintosh with a network connection, even from home.

In the Finder, select Connect To Server... under the Go menu
Enter apple.doit.wisc.edu in the Address: field
Login information: login as a Guest


Via AppleShare IP
You can access the DoIT Apple Support server via AppleShare IP from any Macintosh with a network connection, even from home.

Open the Chooser and select AppleShare
Click the Server IP Address... button
Enter apple.doit.wisc.edu when prompted to enter the server address
Login information: login as a Guest


Via AppleShare
You can connect to the DoIT Apple Support server via AppleShare from any Macintosh connected to the University of Wisconsin - Madison campus network using the following access information:

Open the Chooser and select AppleShare
AppleTalk zone: DoIT Campus Services
Server name: apple
Login information: login as a Guest


Via anonymous FTP
You can also access the file update areas via anonymous FTP using an FTP client, such as Fetch, at the following address:

ftp://apple.doit.wisc.edu/

Restricted Access Areas

The Division of Information Technology is pleased make available restricted access areas on the DoIT Apple Support server. These levels of access give computer support professionals on the University of Wisconsin campus everything they need to support Apple systems and networks - from software archives and tools to prerelease software for evaluation and testing. In order to uncompress files that are downloaded from this server via the web or FTP, you will need StuffIt Expander 5.5 or newer. You can download StuffIt Expander 5.5 here (bin, hqx).
